Decorating Guidelines

  • New or gently used artificial greenery only.

  • Traditional Christmas or winter-themed designs sell the best. The best-selling items are always those that are well-lit, decorated with a generous amount of ornaments, balanced, and symmetrical.

  • All items must have a RETAIL value greater than $50.

  • For approval of other holiday decor, please contact Rita Wilson at

rwilson30180@gmail.com with your proposed item's full description and value.

  • A tree skirt MUST be included with your tree – an attractive skirt will help the tree sell at a higher price. Attach replacement bulbs and fuses to the tree skirt with a safety pin.

  • If glass ornaments are used, they must be disclosed and identified on Decorating Day.

  • Your tree will be visible from all angles, including the back. Please make sure all areas of your tree are fully decorated.

  • It is recommended that all trees have items displayed under the tree e.g. empty wrapped boxes or merchandise. All items under and around the tree will be sold with the tree.

  • All ornaments with removable tops MUST be securely attached.

  • All lights, garlands, picks, and ornaments MUST be secured to the using craft wire, floral wire, pipe cleaners, etc.

  • If your tree needs multiple outlets, please provide an extension cord or power strip that will be sold with the tree.

  • Upon completion, all Deck the Halls submissions become the property of PIE and will be priced and sold as such.

  • Tree stands with removable feet are not allowed.

  • NO weapons or inappropriate materials allowed.

  • If your tree includes a gift certificate, it must be signed by the company owner or authorized person. Please turn in the gift certificate form and gift certificates to the Auction Staff before you check out. PLEASE DO NOT ATTACH GIFT CERTIFICATES OR GIFT CARDS TO YOUR TREE, as they may be stolen during the viewing period.

  • Balloons, live plants, water-filled ornaments, hay, or other highly flammable items are not allowed.

  • NO advertising is allowed on the tree. Items with logos can be placed around/under the tree and in a vignette. We will ensure that your business or organization is highlighted on your tree sign, at the auction site, and in the event program.

  • DO NOT overload your trees with lights. One hundred (100) lights per foot is a safe amount and will avoid electrical overload.

The Deck the Halls Auction offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the holiday spirit while contributing to a worthy cause. The funds from this event will go directly into the Partners in Education of Douglas County's Sunshine Fund, which supports various educational initiatives, programs, and students within our community.

Thank you in advance for your participation and continued support.
